Understanding how to creatively utilize domain names is an integral part of your internet marketing strategy.  In layman’s terms, a domain name is your internet “address”…or how people will find you.  For example, "www.YourCompanyName.com".

Here are some tips for choosing a memorable domain name:

1. Remember that despite the multitude of suffixes (.com, .org, .net, etc.), .coms remain the most popular suffix.  We recommend that you keep trying creative combinations until you come up with a .com that works for you.  If the .com you really want is taken, we suggest you do NOT go for the same name with a different suffix as many internet users automatically type .com and you will never know how many visitors got sidetracked on the way to your website.

2. If you’re a new company, you have the advantage of tweaking your company name to a .com that you like.

3. Consider purchasing additional suffixes of the same name to protect your website brand…remember #1!

4. Multiple domain names can all be pointed at the website and give you a great way to conduct promotions or campaigns and measure your return on investment accurately.  For example, you may own "www.YourCompanyName.com" and "www.OurFantasticContest.com".  The second name may be a separate landing page with contest details and appear in your ads.  By utilizing website metrics, you’ll know how exactly how many people responded to your contest.

5. Domain names are very inexpensive now…typically less than $11 per year for a new .com registration, if registered through our services.   So have fun and be creative!  It’s the best real estate deal out there.
